How Does Sleep Improve Our Mental Health? 

 This blogs talks about how sleeps affects our mental health, getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety it has powerful effect on risk of infectious disease, depression, poor response to vaccine and many other disease such as cardiovascular and cancer.There two broad types of sleep Non-rapid eye moment (NREM). Rapid eye moment. NREM consist of 4 stages. first two are the lightest and earliest sleep and last two are  considered deep sleep. 


SLEEP AND HEALTH

 Approximately 59% to 61% of Indians  report getting less than six hours of sleep per night, and many suffer from sleep deprivation, which has increased in recent years. A significant portion of the population experiences poor sleep quality due to factors like screen time, stress, and irregular schedules and 50-70 milions americans suffer from insomnia and other chronic sleep disorder.

Sleep deficiency can cause you to feel very tired during the day. You may also not feel refreshed and alert when you wake up. Sleep deficiency also can interfere with work, school, driving, and social functioning, basic routine activities.

How sleepy you feel during the day can help you figure out whether you're having symptoms of problem sleepiness. 

insufficient sleep cause(less than 7 hrs a night) can significantly affect cognitive functioning , mood, job performance and QOL (Quality of Life). Insomnia compromises overall well-being and Quality of Life (QOL)



Following are some ways to know if you often feel like you could doze off while:

  • Sitting and reading or watching TV.
  • Sitting still in a public place, such as a movie theater, meeting, or classroom.
  • Riding in a car for an hour without stopping.
  • Sitting and talking to someone.
  • Sitting quietly after lunch.
  • Sitting in traffic for a few minutes.

Sleep deficiency can cause problems with learning, focusing, and reacting. You may have trouble making decisions, solving problems, remembering things, managing your emotions and behavior, and coping with change. You may take longer to finish tasks, have a slower reaction time, and make more mistakes.

 

 

Given are some ways to get GOOD NIGHT SLEEP!😴💤 

  • Get regular exercise atleast thrice a day
  • Keep the bedroom cool and quiet also keep your surrounding clean.
  • Develop night regime, that can get you ready for bed such as taking shower.
  • Cut back over consumption of caffeine before sleep.
  • Don't sleep after 3 pm.
  •  Don't eat too much or too little.
